"We’re highlighting the spirit and strength of Western women throughout history. Their stories shape ours as we follow in their footsteps, both in the arena and out in the world." Started in 1897, Cheyenne Frontier Day's is the "Daddy of "em All!" and this season its the Year of the Cowgirl! CFD is the world's biggest outdoor rodeo, attended by people from all over the world coming to experience the Western way of life. But... roping, riding and concerts isn't all you can experience. Open year around, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum, has permanent exhibits about the history of the rodeo and the city.. From July 19th to August 11th the main exhibit room is turned into a gallery boasting work from top notch western artists from around the nation. I am privileged to be one of them. The opening reception is July 18th and what a night it will be! Time to see the art, meet the people who create it and the patrons that support us. It's also a great time to see some fabulous Western outfits, boots, bling and all! Tickets can be purchased online at www.cfdartshow.com. Hope to see you there! Here's a sneak preview of one of the three pieces I have in the 2024 show. It's a view from our campsite at beautiful Buffalo Bill State Park.
If you 've been following my work you know it's made from fabric. Discarded clothing and household textiles are my palette. I also currently have work at the Cowgirl UP show in the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg AZ. They kindly had this to say on their website....... " Best of Show was awarded to new artist Georgia Rowswell for her mind-blowing textile artwork titled, “Thunderhead off Happy Jack Road”.
