"We are surrounded by another world that is hidden to the naked eye."Eckhard Voelcker

"These look like knitted lace!" As a long time appreciator of all things fiber, this was my first reaction to seeing microscopic cross- sections of plant material. My next thought was, "how can I translate these images in an artistic manner using fiber? How can I achieve the level of complexity seen in the specimens without driving myself crazy?" I answered these questions through experimentation and  knowledge of other techniques like Seminole quilting and Millefiori glass beads. I plan to make many more pieces in this series as I continue to discover nature's Hidden Worlds!
