I love it when institutions choose to buy original art. It sets the tone for the space and can frankly be a navigational tool. Really! I have relied on the art I see when the elevator door opens, to assure me I am in the right place (of course being visually oriented, this makes sense. Normal people might just remember the floor number)! This week I was surprised and delighted to see Hot Yellowstone #5 on the wall at the Wyoming Arts Council's office. Three of my pieces have been purchased through the Governor's Capitol Art Show but it's the first time I have seen one hanging in place. As a bonus, Hot Yellowstone #9 is hanging downstairs at the State Museum as part of the 2016 Capitol Art Show. Art purchased over the years from the Governor's Capitol Art Show, rotate around state offices throughout Wyoming so you never know whose work you will see where. If you are in Cheyenne and haven't seen this year's show this is the last weekend it will be on display. So head down to see the show and take in the museum. There are some wonderful artifacts on display and the museum puts on great programming for all ages.
