"In 2006, Desert Caballeros Western Museum embraced a revolutionary idea: an annual exhibition showcasing the brightest contemporary female artists working in the Western genre. In the male-dominated world of Western Art, Cowgirl Up! turned the spotlight squarely on women’s voices and perspectives, serving up a new, deeper understanding of the American West. " * I am thrilled to be one of the invitees to the 2024 exhibition! The Desert Caballeros Western Museum is located in Wickenburg Az. Dave and I will be hopping in our Tesla in mid March to drive my artwork to the museum. We then plan to spend the week in between drop off and the opening on March 22nd touring the area and visiting family. Being a part of an out of state show is an expensive undertaking. Delivering the art, hotel and food expenses and shipping any unsold work back really adds up. The expense is worth it though for the opportunity to get your work in front of a new group of collectors, not to mention the networking and workshop events too! To help defray costs I applied for and received a Professional Development grant from the Wyoming Arts Council. Thank you to my state's awesome arts council! They have supported me in many different ways for the 16 years I have been a practicing artist in the great state of Wyoming! Also thank you to the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Wyoming State Legislature. So YEE Haw and Giddy UP! The show is on exhibit till September 1st. If you're in the area consider taking in the exhibition and supporting the girls! Guess I better get a pair of cowgirl boots! *quote from the Desert Caballeros Western Museum website
